Philip played Boatswains mate Hobbs in "Hornblower" alongside Ioan Gruffudd as Hornblower, Robert Lindsay as Captain and later Admiral Pellew and David Warner as Captain James Sawyer. Most of the series was filmed on the Spanish island of Menorca. The ship set was built on a cliff overlooking the sea - it never actually sailed ! The series was first broadcast on ITV 1998 - 2003.
