Thank you for all your emails - keep them coming! Here is a selection of comments that we thought were worth sharing. It goes without saying that we'll be updating this section on a regular basis.

"...I have to say that our History department DVD collection looks more like the 'Glenister family appreciation society'!! 6 Wives of Henry VIII direcred by your dad, Rise of Evil for Nazi Germany starring your unbelievably talented brother, lot of clips of Hustle for Religious Studies 'is money the root of all evil!!' (how many bloody accents can your kid do?!!!) Cranford for 'How did the Railways change Britain?' Sharpes Justice for Riot and unrest during the Industrial Revolution, The other Boleyn Girl for Tudors and Stuarts, Spartacus (the modern one with Robert being an evil bastard)for 'Were the Romans civilised?'not to mention citizenship lessons on sexism, racism and crime and the law, of which Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes fits all of them!! Were you aware that your portfolio is part of some very valuable secondary school lesson resources. Cheers for that. I think its down to to you guys that we were recently graded as 'Outstanding' by the dreaded OFSTED!!!!  - Anita

"62 year old feminist in love with racist sexist dinosaur.Desperately need poster of Gene for prominent position in loo." - Suzan

"Just had to say how much I love the new show. According to my husband I am as politicaly incorrect as your character. Must be something to do with the name!! All the best for the future" - Jean Hunt

"I wish to complain in the strongest terms that I found you strangely compellingly attractive in "Life on Mars", depsite you portraying a chauvenistic dinosaur, and me being a signed up lesbian. Yours, a bit miffed," - Jill

"Thank you! You have made many monotonous school days become filled with happy thoughts. I have to say you have got me into a fair bit of trouble though! :o)" ... "The amount of times I have been kicked out of lessons for quoting 'Ashes to Ashes' and 'Life on Mars' is unbelievable! How biology bacame fun because we were studying Genes ;op - French teachers weren't too keen on 'Pardonnez bloody moi' - I can't think why! ;oD." - Louise

"Your potrayal of Gene Hunt is legendary. I almost can't believe I've done it, but I've just ordered two Gene Hunt Appreciation Society T Shirts. Here's to the second series of Ashes to Ashes. I just hope the BBC manage not to let the insidious tendrils of 21st century political correctness mar this otherwise damn fine show. First television I've actually watched for 2 years! Keep up the good work. You are absolutely brilliant." - Dave

"Hello and congratulations on both Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes. I work in the control room for my local Police Force and wanted you to know that Gene's 'one liners' are common practice on our radio airwaves during quiet night shifts. It keeps morale at a high and always gives us a giggle. Thanks again and good luck for the future. Keep up the good work, cant wait for the next series."  - Claire

"God, you are fantastic in LOM and A2A. However a much deeper performance in Vanity Fair." - EW

"I'm pretty old and can remember most of Humphrey Bogart's movies. Philip Glenister is Bogart back to life - even with the northern accent! Instead of going back to the 70's, try going back to Africa in 1914 and remake 'African Queen' - starring Philip and Beth ! Just and idea." - Alan

"Firstly, i am so impressed with the first series of Ashes To Ashes. The characters, the sets, the cars; its all fab!! After watching both series of Life On Mars, i was worried, that the character "Gene Hunt" would be changed and modified! But i was very much mistaken. Thank you for providing my thursday nights with so much joy and entertainment!" - "I am only 15, but it has encouraged me to think of a future career in policing. I am though, not to follow in the famous Gene Hunts footsteps, as my time could be very much cut short, but it has captivated me into helping the people of our country." - Katie

"Ashes to ashes - just the best series I have seen in a very long time. My husband was a copper in the 70's and like most from that time relates very well to the nostalgia and the resonance that the series promotes. I love A to A because I was in my 20's in the 80's and a female working for an American multinational I.T. manufacturer which was then very much a male dominated profession. I couldn't believe just how spot on the first program was - regardless of the fact that it is based around a police force - the whole look and feel and how we all behaved is just uncannily accurate. I was capitulated right back to a fantastic time when we all worked hard and played hard and did far too much drinking in the same kind of italian basement bar all evening before driving blitzed to either a party or home through Park Lane, Hyde Park corner and such like. Thankfully we all got the message soon enough not to drink and drive. But Philip Glenister you are a genius of an actor and just up there with all the fantastic a-lister character leads we know and love in the UK. Keely Hawes is spot on too and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the series. You're a cracking actor old boy!" - Teri

"Hi Philip. I am 40 in August. I have loved Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes and you were fantastic in Cranford. That scene where Gene rescues Alex from the freezer - Wow, how sexy - I was 8 1/2 months pregnant - my hormones went loopy - my husband was very grateful - enough information already! I had a baby girl, Alice on 24/4." - Helen
